The Wellmark Foundation is a private, nonprofit initiative designed to fund projects that positively impact Iowans and South Dakotans. Specifically, the foundation provides support to nonprofit organizations and public entities that help communities establish or expand health initiatives. These contributions, however, were largely unrecognized by the general public. In early 2011, The Wellmark Foundation enlisted LS2group’s assistance for public relations outreach and planning to promote the health and wellness efforts taking place and the contributions that helped get the initiatives started. The primary goal was to increase awareness of The Wellmark Foundation’s charitable contributions and health initiatives within communities across Iowa and South Dakota.
LS2group closely coordinated with The Wellmark Foundation to accomplish this goal by developing a cohesive and proactive media and events strategy. LS2group planned and executed press events, highlighting the significant financial investment The Wellmark Foundation has made to the community. Each event recognized the contribution to the local communities and promoted The Wellmark Foundation’s message on healthier lifestyles.
LS2group’s media outreach produced positive coverage around each contribution event with dozens of story placements in communities in Iowa and South Dakota.
